A Direct Spectral Domain Method for Near-Ground Microwave Radiation by a Vertical Dipole Above Earth in the Presence of Atmospheric Refractivity
نویسندگان
چکیده
A spectral domain method is presented to calculate the potential of a vertical dipole in a multilayered medium as a model of long-range radio propagation. The spectral domain Green’s function (SDGF) for structures with up to hundreds of thousands of layers is calculated using an efficient matrix formulation, thus enabling simulation of continuously stratified media. The SDGF is sampled to perform pole/residue-extraction using contour quadratures and to perform a novel asymptotic Filon-Clenshaw-Curtis (FCC) quadrature to calculate the far-field Green’s functions. The near-fields are directly calculated using an adaptive Clenshaw-Curtis quadrature without pole-extraction. Results of numerical simulations are presented in the case of a graded-index waveguide and an atmospheric gradient-layer above a realistic lossy ground.

Determination of Vertical Refractivity Structure from Ground-based GPS Observations
The primary scientific objective of this research is to develop GPS sounding techniques for ground based atmospheric refractivity sensing. Atmospheric profiling with GPS from space has been demonstrated (e.g. Rocken et al., 1997). Ground based receivers have been used to determine integrated atmospheric water vapor above a site, but profiling techniques with ground-based GPS observations are st...
متن کاملA Study of Electromagnetic Radiation from Monopole Antennas on Spherical-Lossy Earth Using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method
Radiation from monopole antennas on spherical-lossy earth is analyzed by the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method in spherical coordinates. A novel generalized perfectly matched layer (PML) has been developed for the truncation of the lossy soil. For having an accurate modeling with less memory requirements, an efficient "non-uniform" mesh generation scheme is used. Also in each time step...
متن کاملA Horizontal Loop for 80-Meter DX
In 1997 the author published an article on vertical full (and ground plane type half) wave loops for 80 meter DX. In that article it was noted that perpendicular (horizontal) polarization is the preferred polarization, particularly at low elevation angles, since horizontally polarized waves are hardly affected by the finite conductivity of the ground in front of the antenna. An exception when v...

In issues related to air pollution, the thickness of the boundary layer is known as the depth of the mixed layer because the pollution on the ground surface is mixed in this entire layer through turbulence processes. In most cases, the boundary of the area is clearly visible on big industrial cities. The depth of the mixed layer has an important effect in the concentration of air pollution whic...
متن کاملCombining Microwave Radiometer and Wind Profiler Radar Measurements for High-Resolution Atmospheric Humidity Profiling
A self-consistent remote sensing physical method to retrieve atmospheric humidity high-resolution profiles by synergetic use of a microwave radiometer profiler (MWRP) and wind profiler radar (WPR) is illustrated. The proposed technique is based on the processing of WPR data for estimating the potential refractivity gradient profiles and their optimal combination with MWRP estimates of potential...
